There is something fascinating about watching condensation form, and you can catch beautiful pictures of a dew drop on a blade of grass or on the surface of a window, but for a home owner, condensation is anything but beautiful. In fact, condensation could cause major damage to your home. The problem is that when condensation forms and drips down or pools up in locations, it can encourage mold growth, cause water damage or even weaken the structure of the home. Standing water could also attract pests that need water to live.

You will most quickly notice condensation on glass and metal surfaces, but it is possible for condensation to form whenever a surface is cooler than the surrounding, moisture-laden air.

To keep condensation from forming, insulation is your best friend. It can be used to keep the moist air out, but also to keep cold surfaces separated from the air. If necessary, you could heat up areas where condensation often forms to keep it from happening, and using a dehumidifier can decrease the amount of humidity in the air.
