Have you ever considered installing a safe room in your home? Some have done so out of concern for the crime rate where they live, while others are concerned with natural disasters. No matter what your motivation is, installing a safe room can be complicated and should be well thought out.

The first thing to consider is the location. It needs to be well supported due to the weight it adds, but it also needs to be in a location that will be easily accessible no matter where in the home you are, and if there is a potential intruder in your home, you shouldn’t have to cross paths with him.

This rules out your basement as a good location since it most likely is going to be out of the way if you were to be in your bedroom at the time.
